Construction is underway for two new elementary buildings in the Chillicothe City School District. Superintendent Jon Saxton said some community members have recently asked him when construction might start: "We have; we are full go right now; we actually are doing really well on our timeline."
He said site work continues for the 3rd-6th grade building on Arch Street with top soil moved to the west side of the property.
"Now they'll do the excavation," said Saxton, "and then when they're done, that topsoil will be moved back into place."
Footers and foundations will be set for the K-2 building on Cherry and Mill streets in the coming weeks, said Saxton. He added construction at both sites is a little under budget and on schedule.
