Law Enforcement Professor Says Schools Need Security Change

(24/7 News) --  A Cedarville University professor is hoping schools re-assess their security. Patrick Oliver is an associate professor of criminal justice and the criminal justice program director at the school.

He made the remarks following the shooting that left ten people dead in Santa Fe, Texas.

Oliver says every district needs to reconsider their safety procedures, and to assess how to make it more difficult for a shooter to enter and harm students, faculty, and staff.  He believes plans must be customized to fit each building and that metal detectors and security personnel should be considered.

Before teaching at the university, Oliver had an extensive career in law enforcement.
