Semi Cab Destroyed, Catches Fire at Jeffersonville Area Gas Station

Jefferson and Silvercreek Township Fire Departments were called to the scene of vehicle fire on Friday.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office reports that a semi-truck at the Shell gas station at U.S. 35 and I-71 caught fire around 8:40 a.m. Friday.

The truck had been parked near the station's gas pumps but the flames were able to be extinguished before the fire spread beyond the rig. The cab however was totally destroyed. The station's canopy and the truck's trailer and contents were also damaged by the extreme heat.

The driver of the rig was uninjured. The cause of the fire continues to be investigated.
