Piketon Shines in Win Over Southeastern

Two teams struggling in the early part of this season to put together four good quarters of basketball in a game, saw the Piketon Redstreaks finally accomplish that feat in an impressive 57-37 win at Southeastern, Friday.

Piketon held the Panthers scoreless until three minutes remaining in the opening quarter, to take an 11-4 lead after one perriod. Piketon then blistered the nets for 58% shooting in the second quarter to open the margin to 27-17 at halftime. That margin got to 45-25 after three periods, with SE only shooting 29% in that frame. The Streaks led by as many as 22 enroute to their 57-37 win.

Speedster Alex Blanton propelled the Piketon offense with 20 points, followed by Blake Reader's 13 points. Chris Chandler provided 9 points off the bench.

Southeastern was led by Lane Ruby's 10 points and Reece Wheeler added 8 points and 13 rebounds. Aiden Estep contributed 8 points.

Piketon shot 25/54 from the field for 46%- including 4/12 from the arc and only 3/8 from the foul line. Southeastern went 13/45 from the field for a chilly 29%- including 3/13 from the arc. They were 8/9 from the foul line.

The Redstreaks handled the ball extremely well, committing only two turnovers for the game, while Southeastern had 15.

Piketon improves to (2-3/4-4) as the Panthers drop to (1-4/1-7).
