Valley Ends Paint Valley's Season in Sectional Semi

The (8-14) Paint Valley Bearcats saw their boys basketball season close with a 58-44 loss to the Lucasville Valley Indians Monday in the Division 3 Sectional Semis at the Waverly Downtown Gym.

Paint Valley started to see the game slip away in the closing minute of the first half after pulling to within 17-14. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the Valley Indians had a 25-16 lead. That lead was 38-29 after three and within the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, Valley was up 46-31 and from there- never looked back.

Valley shot poorly in the first half, but burned the nets in the second half and totaled 29/48 for the game at 60%- including 2/7 from the arc and added 8/17 at the foul line. Paint Valley was 20/62 from the field for only 32%- including 1/11 from the arc and added 3/8 from the foul line.

Paint Valley actually won the rebounding battle 39-32 with 15 offensive boards. PV committed 13 turnovers to 9 for Valley.

Hunter Hamlin led the Bearcats with 15 points while Bryce Newland had 10 points and 15 rebounds. Tyler Mitchell and Mason Zaler each scored 16 for Valley, while Andrew Shope added 11.
