Tuesday evening, council made a hard decision to balance an ailing budget by the state's deadline, April 1st. It took 44 pages to list all the adjustments, to the tune of about $2,000,000.
But now they must discuss a harder decision...to ask voters to raise the income tax from two, to two-and-a-half percent, to help maintain safety forces.
Circleville Council wants to pay $10,000 to $12,000 for a vote on that August 6th, so they can start collecting in October. But they might be able to wait for November's election, where all city offices will be up for a vote.
Finance chair Barry Keller says there will be much discussion in the month the legislation will wait for its final reading.

The city and county has also reached a good point in the Berger Health System transition. Keller oversaw creating a "lease oversight board" for Ohio Health...and then led council back into executive session in their committee meeting.
