Scioto Valley School District Addresses Zahn's Corner Contamination

-

A special school board meeting, Wednesday night, revealed new information about a school shut down in southern Ohio's Pike County.

-

Scioto Valley School District Officials said enriched uranium was detected inside the Zahn's Corner middle school building and neptunium was detected just outside.

-

School leaders say they suspect the radioactive materials traveled from the former Portsmouth Diffusion Plant. The plant hasn't been operational since 2001 but is in the middle of environmental cleanup.

-

The school board says it'll open as scheduled for the 2019 school year, but adds that it plans to release more details next Tuesday.
