Lady Gaga Romance Rumors 'Didn't Help' Bradley Cooper's Relationship

ABC's Coverage Of The 91st Annual Academy Awards – Show

Bradley Coooper and Irina Shayk called it quits after four years and one child together. Though there was a ton of speculation about their relationship while Cooper was promoting A Star is Born with Lady Gaga, the private couple refrained from commenting on the rumors at the time.

Despite remaining tight-lipped about the Cooper-Gaga romance speculation (while Gaga outright denied it), People now reports those rumors actually did take a toll on Cooper and Shayk's relationship. “The rumors about Bradley and Gaga having a love affair didn’t help especially with his constant travels [promoting the film],” the source explained.

“He has a huge and overwhelming connection to Gaga but whether it becomes a real love story in their lives for all the world to see is premature," the source continued. "And it’s difficult to speculate at this sensitive time.”

“Since Bradley and Irina have always been very private about their relationship few knew there was really for sure something going on,” the source added.

Cooper also spent long stretches of time away from Shayk while filming and promoting the Oscar-nominated film. This also put strain on their relationship. “Bradley was emotionally absent during the long time filming A Star Is Born,” another source told People. “They tried to save the relationship but it had changed.”

Despite making an effort to "slow down" and "focus on his family" after awards season, Cooper and Shayk couldn't make things work. Another source explained they were still spending too much time apart after the A Star is Born hysteria died down. “They were living totally separate lives," the insider said. “If he was in L.A., she’s out of town, and if she was in town, he was out of town."

Sadly, they weren't able to make things work. Gaga, Cooper, and Shayk have not commented on the situation.
