Chillicothe Council Puts Easement on Hold, Acts on Parks & Rec

After Chillicothe Council Monday evening, the easement for Atomic Credit Union at Brewer Heights is on pause for adjustments. Ready to be passed at third reading, the ordinance was sent back to committee. Council president Bruce Arnold said he took action after the review session last Monday, calling ODOT and Atomic Credit Union. He says he has spoken with the highway department several times.

.

Residents of Brewer Heights have expressed safety concerns over the request by Atomic Credit Union to have access to Limestone Boulevard for a new office there. An Atomic representative said they have already worked on designing the access farther back.

.

Arnold says ODOT is making considerations, with about half a dozen concerns...which he is helping to check off. He says he can't release details yet. He says there will be a committee meeting to make adjustments, then another review session to present them to the public...with it hopefully back on the agenda for two more readings at the next council session, October 14th.

Parks & Recreation dealt with expenses and announced a conference. Ceil Corcoran saw Parks & Recreation funds adjusted to pay for several big-ticket items, including electrical bills and equipment repairs. But she says $30,000 for a new pool pump was the main expense. She also took in some money for Veterans Park on Yoctangee and Park Streets. The Amvets council gave $400, and she says it will be well spent.

.

Corcoran mentioned an event this Thursday, the First Annual Chillicothe Tree Care Conference. It's 9am to 3:30pm at the Rotary Shelter in Yoctangee park. The cost is $25 and includes lunch. She says the city and the tree commission are proud to be working with the state Division of Forestry on this regional event here.
