After Chillicothe Council Monday evening, the city has authority to buy the former Pepsi warehouse after three readings. City Services chair Aaron Hines says he is happy the ordinances passed to buy and finance the future city building.

Hines says the negotiations should be all done, and the seller was just waiting for the city to be authorized by council to purchase.

After some designing, he says the city should start tweaking the building after purchase at the end of this month, with moving and removing some interior walls and building office space. It will combine most of the services for five city departments: Parks & Recreation, City Services, Water, Sewer, and City Electricity. Removing some of their buildings was included in the financing.

This ended up being a cheaper way to fulfill the most of the recommendations of the facilities study a year ago to combine city services.
