Darbyville Man Charged with Felony Burglary in Pickaway County

A Darbyville man is facing felony burglary charges as the result of an incident in Pickaway County, early Tuesday morning.

According to Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff, on September 23rd at 1:57 a.m., the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a Burglary in progress at 16717 Main Street Darbyville. The caller stated someone just kicked in their side door and was standing in their house. Also, while en route, Deputies were advised the male subject fled the house on foot towards State Route 316.

Deputies that responded to the scene were Cpl. Levi Freeman, Dep. James Brushart, Dep. Clark Kreager and Trooper Adrian Wilson from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Deputies were flagged down while looking for the subject who fled on foot, by the resident of 8970 St Rte 316 West Darbyville, Ohio who said he was locked out of his house and stuff on his porch had been disturbed. A short time later the resident located their key. They keyed their way in and located a subject identified as Dane S. Riser Darbyville, Ohio hiding in a closet. Deputies located a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine on him. Dane Riser appeared to be under the influence and was checked out and cleared at the scene by Harrison TWP EMS.

Once at the Pickaway County Jail, Dane Riser admitted to ingesting 3 to 4 grams of methamphetamine just prior to being arrested. Deputy James Brushart took him to Berger Hospital to be medically cleared, for precautionary purposes

Dane Riser was charged with 2 counts of Burglary both felonies of the 4th degree and 1 count of Drug Paraphernalia a misdemeanor of the 4th degree.
