One of Chillicothe's all-time great basketball coaches has passed away.

Word of Hall of Fame basketball coach Tom Cuppett's death started hitting social media sites at mid-morning Thursday, many coming from long-time acquaintances and former players of the legendary boys basketball mentor.

Cuppett led the Cavaliers Boys Basketball program for 12 years, between 1969 and 1981, with a won-loss record of (188-69).

In that time, Cuppett's Cavs won 2 Central Ohio League championships, 10 sectional tournament titles and 3 district crowns.

Prior to becoming a legend at CHS, Cuppett coached at Sisterville, West Virginia, where he is also in their Hall of Fame.
