Chillicothe Council passed six pieces of legislation during its regular session, Monday.
Council approved ordinances for an agreement that allows the city to be eligible for state reimbursement for appointing counsel for indigent criminal defendants through 2021; appropriating $125,000 for City Income Tax refunds; $14,870 to repair a traffic signal control box; appropriating funds for end-of-year expenses; transferring $28,348 from IT salary to outside contracts; extending the Chillicothe Municipal Court Victim Witness Assistance Program and accepting related grant funds.
Council tabled a third reading of an ordinance that would create four Chillicothe Downtown Redevelopment Districts in order to work out additional details prior to a vote.
Other items that moved to a second reading included:
- an ordinance supporting Adena Regional Medical Center’s HRSA Grant Project and allocating $10,000.00 for use toward a Fair Housing Assessment;
- a resolution strongly opposing Senate Bill 352 and House Bill 754, legislation proposing the repeal of Section 29 of House Bill 197, which will result in a myriad of unintended consequences throughout Ohio’s entire Municipal Income Tax System, cause a substantial loss of revenue that will impede the ability of municipalities to provide for the health, safety and welfare of municipal residents and businesses and thereby jeopardize the future economic growth of the State of Ohio, and declaring an emergency;
- an ordinance to make first-quarter appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures of the city of Chillicothe during the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2021, and ending March 31, 2021, and declaring an emergency.
Chillicothe Council's next regular session is set for December 28.
