North Adams Swarms Past Adena Lady Warriors

Like a "swarm of bees", the North Adams Lady Green Devils defensively smothered Adena in a 58-38 Division 3 District Semifinal win, Wednesday.

Tight full-court and half-court pressure forced 18 first half turnovers by the Lady Warriors, which helped North Adams to a 10-0 start and 23-10 lead after the first quarter. That lead grew to 38-17 at halftime, then 55-29 after three periods.

The Lady Warriors finished with 21 turnovers for the game, while North Adams finished with 15 for the contest..

Adena was held to 13/31 shooting for 42%- including 4/13 at the arc and 8/14 at the foul line. North Adams, who shot 73% in the first quarter, ended the game at 24/51 for 47%- including 7/20 from the arc and 3/4 at the foul line.

NA out-rebound Adena 28-19.

6'1 post-player DeLaney Harper scored 16 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and locked two shots. Karissa Buttlewerth scored 9 points, with 8 coming from each Wylie Shipley, Braylie Jones and Marah Call. Keetyn Hupp added 6.

Adena's Emma Garrison scored 15 to lead her team, with Sydney Foglesong and Makaela Lovely each adding 7.

Adena drops to (18-4) and will conclude their season with a regular season SVC game Thursday, hosting Southeastern. (18-4) North Adams faces SHAC rival Eastern Brown Saturday for the district title.
