The Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash Monday morning on US 35 just east of Richmond Dale.
39-year-old Ryan Jardine was westbound on US 35 in a 2015 International Prostar commercial semi, hauling a 2008 Tremcar tanker.
At about 10:25am January 24th, Jardine slowed to make a right turn into a private driveway near milepost 35, when 31-year-old Timothy McCartney of Thurman, Ohio, failed to maintain an assured clear distance and struck the tanker with his in his 2009 Toyota Camry.
McCartney was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Jefferson Township Fire/EMS, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ross County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to always wear their seatbelts.
