"State of the City Schools" Part of 2022 "State of the Community"

When the Chamber of Commerce hosted the "State of the Community" April 29th, one of the speakers presented the "State of the City Schools."

Debbie Swinehart, superintendent of Chillicothe City Schools, said that student wellness needs are at an all-time high, including anxiety, and they need help and support.

She also mentioned the school system has 400 students who are homeless. But Homeless Coordinator Tabitha Muse connect parents to support to make sure kids can attend school.

But it wasn't all bad news. If you're wondering what's going on at the ravine and baseball field at the north end of the high school, it's preparations for a new building. Swinehart says the system has plans ready for their new early childhood preschool building, to help prepare children for learning and graduating on time.
