The "State of the County" in the State of the Community

As part of last Friday's "State of the Community" hosted by the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce, Ross County Commissioner Dwight Garrett spoke on the state of the county. Kevin Coleman was there.

Garrett outlined adding the county airport to the prison sewer system, via Stone Road and State Route 104. He said that would also include the fairgrounds. Most of the cost, $10,000,000, would come from ARPA - the American Rescue Plan Act, which is federal COVID funds. He said the rest of the ARPA funds have been distributed to appropriate agencies.

Garrett said they are also looking downtown to maintaining and repairing the $300,000,000 worth of buildings they are responsible for at Paint and Main: the courthouse, old jail, and LCNB building.

And, he said the county is keeping in mind their role in the implications of the World Heritage listing for the Hopewell earthworks this summer.
