34-year-old Jesse J. Chamberlin
The Ross County Grand Jury met on Friday, June 6th, 2025, with three cases open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:
At 1am on May 2nd, a Sheriff’s deputy saw a vehicle come from the side of a gas station in Bourneville and leave the area. By the time the deputy tried to make contact, the driver had outdistanced him, though he had made out a male driver and female passenger.
Shortly after, another deputy found the vehicle speeding on Blain Highway, where he tried to make a traffic stop. But the driver continued, and then a tire blew out.
The vehicle crashed in a woods and the man ran. The woman remained, and admitted who the driver was.
The driver later came out of the woods and was detained, but refused to talk to the deputies. He was 34-year-old Jesse J. Chamberlin of California Hollow Road.
Then on June 6th, while taking a shower in the Ross County Jail, Chamberlin told the corrections officer that he would not get out of the shower until he got his medication.
Chamberlin started getting upset and came towards the officer aggressively. The officer drew his taser, and Chamberlin returned to the shower and was given several commands to turn around – but did not.
The officer then grabbed Chamberlin to escort him out of the shower, but he resisted by turning around and striking the officer in the face with his elbow, injuring it and causing bleeding.
Chamberlin was later taken to the ground and was placed in a restraint chair.
For an indictment on fourth-degree felony failure to comply, Chamberlin could get up to 18 months and $5,000 in fines. For fifth-degree felony assault, he could get up to 12 months and $2,500 in fines.
He remains in custody in the Ross County Jail. He also has charges of contempt of court, another failure to comply, and may have violated a parole.
