Oil Painting and Photographs Fill Chillicothe Art Gallery

Paintings by Steven Riggs, with photographs by William Conley.

An oil painter and a photographer share the “Generations” show in the Pump House Center for the Arts this month.

Pickaway County artist Steven Riggs says he usually paints in oil, and many of his paintings have stories behind them. He tells some of them in the interview video below.

One is based on a photo of his great-grandmother, and he says male and female viewers have different assumptions about the letter she is reading.

All of his work there is for sale, and at negotiable prices – he says if you want art, he wants you to be able to afford it.

Jackson-area photographer William Conley shoots digitally but sometimes makes analog alterations.

He says he hasn’t started his professional photography service yet, after graduating from Rio Grande University, but he continues with his art photography.

Several of his photos are of race cars in the Southern Ohio Forest Rally, including an action photo taken a few hundred feet from the Pump House.

Hear him explain some of his images in his interview video.

Both artists were at the opening of the show on July 10th, 2025. Learn more about the free public art gallery on its Facebook page and website
