Years after stepping away from acting, Meghan Markle is returning to the big screen.

The Duchess of Sussex is set to make her return to acting next year in a new movie, her first role since entering royal life, per People. Meghan's last credited role was on the legal drama series Suits, which she left after announcing her engagement to now-husband Prince Harry in 2017.

According to The Sun, Meghan was spotted in Pasadena, California, on the set of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends, where she reportedly has a "small part" playing herself. The movie stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding.

An insider told People that the Duchess of Sussex "seemed very relaxed and happy" and was "very sweet and down-to-earth" while chatting with others on set. Additionally, a source with Amazon MGM Studios explained how the move is a "massive" step toward Meghan returning to something she loves.

"This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right," the source said. "It is Meghan's way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set."

Prince Harry is seemingly on board with his wife's next step, with the Duke of Sussex being described as "really supportive" and that he "quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy."

Meghan stepped away from acting prior to marrying her husband in a royal wedding in 2018. They have since welcomed two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. The couple stepped away from royal duties in 2020, moving across the Pond and starting a new chapter with their family in Montecito, California.
