Unioto vs John Glenn in Regional Semi

For the third time in school history, the Unioto Shermans boys basketball team will play in the "Sweet 16".

The first time the Tanks made it this far was 1991, when they advanced all the way to the state title game, where they lost to Haviland Wayne Trace.  The last time they appeared in the regionals, saw them lose a heart-breaker to Walnut Ridge, 46-45 in 2015.

This time around, (22-2) Unioto faces (20-4) New Concord John Glenn, who is no stranger to the regional or state tournament. The Muskies have advanced to the regionals four of the last five years, and ran the table to a state title in 2016.

John Glenn closely matches Unioto in player size. Perimeter shooters have long been a strength of teams from John Glenn, but that is also a strength of the Shermans with school record holders Brandon Kennedy and Logan Swackhammer.

The 6:15pm Thursday tip-off at the Ohio University Convocation Center will be broadcast on 94 Country WKKJ & worldwide on iHeart Radio, with airtime at 6pm.

The 8pm semifinal features (22-3) Proctorville Fairland against (20-6) Byesville Meadowbrook. The two winners meet at 3pm Saturday for the regional championship.
