#MostRequestedLive Interview: Miley Cyrus Accidentally Drops New Song Title

Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus sat down for an interview with Maxwell on #MostRequestedLive! They talked about working together on "Nothing Breaks Like A Heart" and lots more.

On why they haven't worked together before now:

(Miley) "I think there was a few years of us trying to get in the room and create together, and the timing kind of never lined up. I started doing a record that was more psychedelic - I did this weird project that was more for myself - and then the next project that I did, the last record, was more just about myself as a songwriter. I was in a space where I wasn't really wanting to collaborate because I've never gotten to do something just on my own with that full control. But Mark does a great thing, no matter what it is - whether it's funk or soul or country - he does a really great modern take on classic music."

(Mark) "I think as a DJ - especially coming up in New York - I was predominantly a hip-hop DJ, but you play across everything, because break beats might draw from old funk, they could be country, obviously hip hop and disco, and I just really like music. I went to Miley's - I've always been a fan of her music - I went to the Dead Petz show, I remember shazaming 'Malibu' the first time I heard it on the radio and being like, 'Oh, I love this song.' And also, the first time I was her was singing '50 Ways To Leave Your Lover' on 'SNL.' That's an old Paul Simon song, but with one of the craziest drum breaks ever. I guess I just got my music from all these different sources, but that's how I realized I definitely wanted to make a piece of music [with her], and then it took a few years to get to the right place."

On how they came up with the 'Nothing Breaks Like A Heart' video:

"Me and Mark have worked on a bunch of songs on my next record, so I was kind of just in this creative space. Sometimes the visuals of what I can imagine it looking like can even inspire me in the vocal booth, and so you can put those messages you want to bring - what it's really about to you - into it. I'm such a visual person, that when I record a vocal take - this is really creepy, this is a girl thing - I imagine what lipstick I'll be wearing in the music video... like 'Bad Karma' - ooh, I shouldn't have said that, well, there you go. A song that we've done together... I come out of the booth sometimes and be like, ' I have this idea for the music video,' so I was just imagining, like, what would it be like to put a car in places that you should never see a car - which is inside a living room, inside a club. And then when we decided that 'Nothing Breaks' would be the first single, it was, 'What's really breaking our heart every single day?' So I think we were able to make a video that was politically charged and being able to start a conversation, but also be able to be that escape that pop music can be too."

Ahem, did Miley just reveal that she and Mark have a song together called "Bad Karma"? Yep! Can't wait to hear that one!
