For those wondering about the depth of “fake news” and the like on Facebook, get this - Guy Rosen, Facebook's vice president of product management, said the social network disabled about 583 million fake accounts during the first three months of this year. The good news? The majority of those were blocked within minutes of registration.

To look at it differently, that's an average of over 6.5-million attempts to create a fake account every day from January 1st to March 31st. Rosen adds, “It’s important to stress that this is very much a work in progress and we will likely change our methodology as we learn more about what’s important and what works.”

Meanwhile, A group of nurses at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital want the Zuckerberg name removed because of Facebook's privacy scandals. They say patients are wondering how well a hospital with that name on it is protecting their privacy and say the name "scares" them.

  • San Francisco General was renamed in 2015 for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, after the couple gave the hospital and trauma center a record donation of 75-million dollars. About a dozen nurses staged a small protest last Saturday and put blue masking tape over the "Zuckerberg" on the welcome sign.
