An Australian mother has defended spending more than $9,000 on her son's first birthday party.
Jackie Lam's celebration for her rainbow baby (a child born after a miscarriage) was so over-the-top that friends and family likened it to a wedding.
Lam explained to Yahoo! Australia that she began planning the event when her son was just two-months-old. She hosted 125 adults and 50 children in a waterside venue.
While the grown-ups enjoyed a buffet, the kids got to enjoy a special menu that included sliders, mini pizzas, fish and chips and salads. There was also a fully loaded dessert station, a face painter, a balloonist, a photo booth, a ball pit and a professional photographer.
