LIFE: Sometimes, you find something you weren't looking for...

There were supposed to be lights.

In the sky.

Amazing lights. Unlike any others I've seen before.

Northern Lights. The AURORA BOREALIS, which, according to some, were set to present themselves in places much further South than they normally do. In Alaska, this isn't a thing.

In suburban DC - or Maryland, specifically, the idea that this could happen... is.

The NOAA said that places as far south as Pennsylvania, Northern Maryland, even Annapolis, *could* see this wonder of Nature due to some sort of solar storm and flare conditions.

*COULD* was enough for me.

The night... was Saturday night. Kyla, my 14 year old daughter who will become a 15-year-old at the end of the week, and I took off for Pennsylvania... first, in search of some uniquely Lancaster County stuff and then... in search of the NORTHERN LIGHTS. Along the way, we listened to a ton of music. Talked musicals. Had ice cream and picked up some Amish-certified milk, meat and more. We even hit up a Sheetz for some gas and more. We talked. I annoyed her. We talked some more. I annoyed her some more. We traveled... and eventually we made our way home to pick up our puppy, Clover Maxwell from his doggy-day-care, took him home and then, hopped back in the car to head North to see if we might be luckier than the 50/50 odds which said we might see the Northern Lights near a mountain called Raven Rock near Gettysburg.

We didn't see the lights. I guess some atmospheric conditions changed... and we saw... nothing but stars. And a nearly-full moon.

But along the way, as we drove, it hit me.

During our travels, Kyla and I discovered a Unicorn.

Not a "UNICORN" as in a horse with a horn. I won't argue the reality of said creature because if you have faith that they are... believe in that faith, because that means something.

We discovered Unicorn, Pennsylvania. A town named after a hotel - the UNICORN HOTEL - which once stood in this town, in far-Southern Lancaster County, not too far north of the Maryland line, the Mason-Dixon Line, and the Susquehanna River. The same county where, in 1998, I once walked into a building which started my iHeartRADIO career almost 21 years ago.

Sometimes, in this life, you find something you didn't set out to find. You went off seeking something, only to find something else, something unexpected, something you had no idea you'd find... which changes your perspective.

21 years ago, it was the unexpected beginning of what has been a charmed career.

This weekend... it was finding a place called Unicorn which made me realize that maybe - just maybe - there's something to this whole "unicorn" thing...

... and in this case... it's in a place called #LANCo.

Life is about the journey. And the adventures you find along the way.

My parents named me Toby. Thanks for reading. And for letting me be a part of your journey.

#LoveToby
