Nickelodeon Goes Dark For 8 Minutes And 46 Seconds For George Floyd!

In efforts to raise more awareness for Black Lives Matter fighting for justice over the death of George Floyd, several networks went off the air on Monday night. The networks owned by Viacom went off air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the same amount of time that a police officer had their knee on George Floyd's neck. The Nickelodeon version shared their Nickelodeon Declaration of Kids' Rights before going off air in support of justice, equality, and human rights. You can can read the Nickelodeon Declaration of Kids' Rights below:

You have the right to be seen, heard and respected as a citizen of the world.

You have the right to a world that is peaceful.

You have the right to be treated with equality, regardless of the color of your skin.

You have the right to be protected from harm, injustice, and hatred.

You have the right to an education that prepares you to run the world.

You have the right to your opinions and feelings, even if others don't agree with them."

The other networks under Viacom like MTV, BET, Logo, VH1, CMT, CBS, and more played something a bit different. Their version was black and white while the sound of someone breathing was playing with the words, "I can't breathe," appearing in and out. The video encouraged viewers to partner up with Color of Change, to help stop police brutality in America.

How are you talking to your kids about what's going on in the world?
